Nathaniel and Matt throw down on the highly controversial Steam Paid Mods feature. It’s so controversial that Steam pulled the feature about 10 minutes before we started recording, but we argue anyway! Nathaniel represents the neckbeards who hate everything new and Matt represents the oligarchy that is Steam.
We discuss what mods are and why this is such a hot button topic for gamers.

Here’s a link to Steam’s response.

Join us for our first Almost Interviewed episode, where we get a bit tipsy and talk to someone in the game industry about the game industry. This week we’re joined again by composer Emma Rios and operations lead/blacksmith Quentin Hartman as we discuss how to break into the game industry and what their favorite parts about working in it are.

This week we’re talking about preorders and how shitty they are. Even given all of that, we still preorder games. What’s up with that?

Also this week, we have a new theme song composed by Emma Rios ( Let us know what you think!

This week we get Bloodborne and Pillars of Eternity and we chat about why both of them are SO AMAZING.

This game is so great it's got a big heads mode.

You may notice that this cast is shorter and that’s because we are experimenting with the format. Coming soon (as part of this experiment) is our “Indie Spotlight” feature where we plug indie projects we’re interested in. In this cast we do a mini version where we talk about:

  • Sol-Ark : A “2D Space RTS with sandbox and rogue-like components” that looks like it’ll be pretty interesting.
  • Not a Clone : Prototype mobile game that’s a parody of mobile games. Originally a one person project for the One Game a Month game jam, now the developer has formed a team to make a mobile version.
  • Axiom Verge : A single person project that’s an homage to the Metroid series. I have yet to see a bad review of this game.
